Cleaning Up on Water - The Truth About Bottled Water

We talk a lot about water here at Flaherty Plumbing, and spring and the warmer weather are the time of year we start, once again, to put you in the flow (know) about water – helping you clean up your ideas about H2O!

The following comes from an area town’s 2012 Annual Water Quality Report I found lying around – made me sit down and write this:
“Thanks in part to aggressive marketing, the bottled water industry has successfully convinced us all that water purchased in bottles is a healthier alternative to tap water.” The article goes on to cite a study by the Natural Resources Defense Council that says it is not, primarily for two reasons we have long stated at Flaherty Plumbing:
     1) About 25 to 40% of that bottled water is actually just bottled tap water!
     2) There is less oversight on the quality of bottled water than your tap water!         (Read more about that here!)

And finally, they talk about the cost – and so do we, but it’s nice to hear someone else say it too:

“People spend (up to) 10,000 times more per gallon for bottled water than they typically do for tap water.”

The town actually says that putting in a filter device would cost you far less than what you would pay for bottled water. So that’s it folks! If you don’t believe us here at Flaherty, at least read your water report.
